Sharm El Sheikh

24.01.2009 - 31.01.2009

Egypt: Sharm El Sheikh

We got a great deal that we could not refuse, a luxury hotel on the beach in Naama Bay, so off we go for a week in the sun and a little diving. My illness had slowly been getting better but with a lot of ups and down, so we thought we would try some more diving and see how things went. The hotel was great, even if it was a bit noisy in the hallways, with a huge breakfast buffet, very comfortable rooms, and the beach was a short three minute walk.

We only did two days of boat diving with Camel Dive this time and dived the following sites: Temple, Ras Um Sid, Ras Mohammad (Yolanda reef), and the Light house. The diving was a little disappointing this time and there was not that much to see, there was no current at all on Yolanda reef, or at the Temple, due to a dive course we tied up a bit away from the dive site so most of the dive was over sand (not much on the fish side so I will not write about it). I guess we've been diving so many times in this area that it's time to go somewhere else.

The days were sunny and warm so we spent a lot of time on the beach, we also spent a day at Shark's Bay where we did some snorkeling and watch the camels on the beach. Our evenings were spent strolling on the promenade, eating and a trip or two to the Camel bar, time went very quickly and we were on the way home again.
